108. Pintle This pintle is from the door of Ms. Catherine’s house. Archie Waiters said that the seam on the bottom of it shows how the blacksmith made it by wrapping a red-hot strip of metal around a pin and hammering it into a solid piece. Then he again heated the strip that had been made into a solid piece and chiseled the end of it to a point to make a spike that could be driven into a doorframe. (Photo 1984) |
