Figure 140.  Frances Johnson with sickle

When I visited Frances Johnson, she got out this sickle that her grandfather had given to her father, Vico Johnson. He had used it for harvesting his little rice crop. Johnson had continued raising rice until about 1939, long after most people at Mars Bluff had stopped. (Photo 1984).
