Figure 155. Ms. Pinkney’s house broomThis was one of Ms. Janie Pinkney’s house brooms that she left in her house when she went to the nursing home about 1970. She and her husband were the last African Americans to live on Francis Marion University land. The broom has been in the hewn-timber cabins collection for years, but apparently was never photographed. (Photo 2005) |
