Here is a picture of Archie Waiters holding a picture of his grandfather Alex Gregg and his second wife, Florence Henderson. As a child, Waiters went to live with his grandfather, so Waiters heard the old man tell his stories many times and retell the stories that had been told to him as a child. Because Gregg was born in 1844, Waiters’s memory seemed to go back for generations before he was born. (Poster by Amelia Vernon, donated 1998.)
