Figure 47: Ms. Catherine's wash pot

Back in the 1930s when they both lived in the hewn-timber houses, Ms. Catherine’s mother-in-law, Tena Gregg Waiters, gave Ms. Catherine this wash pot.  It probably was quite old at that time.  Ms. Waiters recalled her  wash days.  “Had a tin tub.  Rub the clothes.  Wash through two waters.  Put them in wash pot and let them boil.  Take out and wash through three waters and hang them out."  (Photo 1986)
