Waiters recalled his days working on the farm when, sometimes on Friday, he would be told to report to the blacksmith shop to work on Saturday. On Saturdays, all the country people went to the store and often had business for the blacksmith shop next door. When helping there, Waiters used this kind of tongs to remove hot things from the fire and hold them on the anvil so that the blacksmith could beat them. Photo 1984.
