A
pair of beautiful glass mantle lusters -- 14-1/2 to 15 inches tall,
very clean,
all the prisms intact and identical, no chips or scratches to be found!
The
hand painted decoration is delicate and tasteful - highly textured
flowers with gold gilded vines and leaves.
The
forms appear to be four layers of glass: clear, opaline(?), translucent
and
clear.
No
obvious signs of ever having been mounted to a base or electrified.
The
only mark is a "21" inside the bottom edge.
I've
heard people refer to these as Victorian French Mantle Lusters, but I
just know these things graced my mother's mother's mother's parlor and
sparkled enough to catch my eye when I was a child, the psychedelic
experience of a bygone time -- but they were always kept safely out of
my reach....
