Figure 117.  Using Gregg's baskets in the 1930s

The baskets in use here were made by Ruska Gregg.  Archie Waiters said that these baskets are the standard size that Gregg made; the ones used for corn harvest were so large that it took two men to lift them.  This photograph was taken just east of where the Francis Marion University academic computer center now sits.  Left to right: Archie Waiters, his brother James Waiters, Waiters's brother-in-law Ernest Egleton, his brother Tom Waiters, and Ed Pinkney. The mules are probably Jack and Bob.  (Photo 1930s)
