Recommendation for Future Exhibits |
Visitors at the 1994 exhibit
in the hewn-timber houses recommended that we should have
one house furnished as if it were in current use as a home.
It should look as if the people who lived there had just
left and would be coming back. This seems to be an approach far superior to anything else we can imagine, especially in view of the fact that we have a remarkable collection of furnishings that were actually used by people who lived in hewn timber houses. (See the following section that tells the provenance of articles in the exhibit.) Ms. Catherine’s house is recommended as the house most appropriate to display furnished because the modern fireplace in Ms. Tena’s house rules it out. [Note: No fire can be burned in Ms. Catherine’s fireplace, but we do recommend putting soot on it so it looks as if it had fires burned there.] Click here for a list articles that are available for furnishing the house. |
